Monthly Update

This is my first post, so I figured it would be a getting to know me with a little update about what’s to come, so here it goes. How about a little Q & A?

How long have I been writing?

I have been writing most of my life, in school it was an escape, and now it’s an adventure. Writing can be a bit challenging at times. I am Dyslexic and dyscalculia, so the switching, spelling and focus are a daily challenge. But that is what spell check is for, am I right? My debut novel, Cliff House, was released May 2023, and it was an eye opener. I went with what I now know was a vanity press, it cost me a boat load of money, the book was widely over priced and later found out not edited. But two years later and no longer under contract, I have the book back and will be releasing Mackay’s Cliff House this fall/winter.

What genre do I write?

If you had asked me that question a year ago I would have said Contemporary Romance, and while that is true, I now also write Romantasy under the pen name Cadmi Ó’Cléirigh. So still romance, as it is my favorite to read, but I have branched out to the fantasy realm. And I love it.

What books have you published?

Under Nora Weirich I have; The Mackay Series Books one and two, Cliff House and Dunnegan’s Cottage. Cliff House will be replaced by Mackay’s Cliff House this fall/winter and I will have a third installment soon, but I have to work on it yet.

Under Cadmi Ó’Cléirigh I have; The Golden Realm Chronicles, Quelocand: Land of the Queens. I have written the 1st draft of book two, Locbroalm: The Golden Realm to be released June 20th 2026. The final will be written this summer released in 2027. I have a stand alone in the works that will NOT be part of the Golden Realm Chronicles. My hope is to work on flushing it out this school year and have it for a fall release in 2026.

What do I like to read?

I read like I listen to music. My favorite is and always will be Nora Roberts, hands down. I buy everything that woman puts out. I love to read Dan Brown, and like wise will buy ever book he releases. I have read Deborah Harkness’s All Souls trilogy along with the off shoots of it. I have read some of Stephen Kings… meh lol. I have also read the H.P , Twilight, Fifty Shades, and so many others. I also read lots of books from Indie authors. Alicia S. Rivers, Aspen Winters, Jenn A. Morales, Micca Michaels, T.M. Cromer, Misty Walker and so many more. I love to read, and winter is my reading time.

What is my writing/reading routine?

Well, when ever I write I cant have the room in silence. I have my Alexia shuffle my stations from my Pandora and play music. Now anyone who have been in a live with me will know that my music is very eclectic. Country, Classical, Rock, Metal, 80’s, Irish(lots of Irish), Movie scores, Disney songs, and so on. The music is everywhere. But when I read, it has to be quiet. I cant read and have the music or tv playing. Weird right. While writing or editing I can have music going, I hear it can can tune it out at the same time. But when I read, nope nadda.

My actual writing is done mostly in the summer, that way I can write all day and bang out a book, or at least the 1st draft. Then in the fall/winter I edit what was written. But I would touch the summer book till after Xmas. When I get home from the summer I work on the book will be released in December. If I have one.

How do I publish?

I use KDP and Ingram Spark to publish. Both have their ups and downs. I don’t use an editor, yes I know I should, but they are to rich for my blood. At least the ones that are worth their salt are any way. I have Alpha/Beta readers and my own mind. Will there be mistakes in the books, more than likely, will I ever use an editor? You bet, when I can pay for one. I make my one covers, that has been a slow learning curve, (Thank you Alicia) but I am getting better at it. I have tried to make a schedule that works for me. Two books a year, that’s it. Will that mean that readers will have to wait for the next book? Yes, yes they will, my hope is that the one before was so good that they will come back. Fingers crossed.

How often will I post to the Blog?

I plan to post here at least once a month. This is where I will post updates. The Covers will be released here first, as well as blurbs, and the opportunity to get your copies before anyone else. On my website theirishauthor.com I will have my whole catalogue so sale. All Paperbacks and when I have them Hardbacks. There will also be merch that will match the books and so on. As time goes on I’ll add more pages to this and have more content.
